All of that and a lot more is now possible by using Vainu Research Agent, the first member of our Vainu Agent family, and your personal AI assistant in Vainu.
How to use Vainu Research Agent
Vainu Research Agent has its own dedicated tab on the company card, alongside Overview, Employees, Financials, Real estate, Similar, Vehicles, and Locations. Open any company card and click the Research Agent tab to see it in action.
You can ask Vainu Research Agent anything about the company. We have a set of ready-made prompts in English and Finnish, but you can also write your own prompts or fine-tune the existing ones to get exactly the information you are looking for. You can also write your prompt in Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish to get Vainu Research Agent's answers in those languages.
By default, Vainu Research Agent uses all of our primary data sources to formulate the answers, but you can also choose exactly which sources it draws on from the prompt editor's Data Sources step (see below).
Vainu Research Agent's analysis is also included as a native part of all of our Nordic databases. When you open the Research Agent tab on a company card, Vainu auto-generates an analysis based on your default prompt.
At the bottom of every response you'll find a row of quick actions:
+ — create a new prompt
The edit icon — edit the current prompt
The refresh icon — regenerate the answer using the same prompt
Copy, thumbs up, and thumbs down — copy the response, or give feedback on its quality
Creating and editing prompts
Click Change prompt next to the prompt selector, or the edit icon under a response, to open the Research Agent Prompt Editor. It's a guided, two-step wizard: Prompt and Data Sources.
Step 1: Prompt
Prompt name — give your prompt a name so you and your colleagues can find it later.
Share with colleagues — make the prompt available to others in your organization.
Use this as a default prompt — set it as the prompt Vainu automatically runs when anyone opens the Research Agent tab on a company card.
Prompt — write what you want the AI to do. A good prompt is clear, specific, and goal-oriented: state the task, give enough context, and describe the format you want the answer in. Tip: you can add metric cards to the answer by asking, for example, "Include revenue and employee count in Key takeaways."
Refine prompt — let AI tighten up your wording before you save it.
Step 2: Data Sources
Choose exactly which data the agent can use to answer this prompt, grouped into four sections:
Company Data — expandable groups of fields you can select individually: Company profile, Contact & web, Industries, Size & financials, Activity & technology, and Licenses & vehicles. Each group shows how many of its fields are currently selected, for example "3/7."
Content sources — Website content, Financial figures, Budget, Decision-maker profile, ESG Reports, Financial statement PDFs, Job Postings, and Meeting minutes.
Tools — Web Search and Website Content. Enable Web Search to let Research Agent look up information on the open web, and Website Content to draw on what Vainu has crawled from the company's own site.
Events — pick specific event types to include, such as Construction Project or Investment - New Place of Business. Use the dropdown to add more from the full list.
Click Save when you're done, or Back to return to the Prompt step.
Agent Context
Instead of repeating background information in every prompt, store it once in your Agent Context: details about you, your company, your role, and your ideal customer profile (ICP). Every new prompt can draw on this context automatically, so you don't have to copy-paste the same background every time.
What data does Vainu Research Agent use?
Vainu Research Agent uses our proprietary company data when answering your prompts. This data is categorized under four main groups:
Basic data: all the information Vainu collects from local business registries, such as official industries, address, foundation date, company status, auxiliary names, employee count etc.
Website content: all the information Vainu has detected from the company's official website. This includes text content from the website, Vainu Custom Industry analysis, website technologies, news articles and blog posts, company descriptions and more.
Financial statements: all the latest financial figures reported by the company including the most commonly requested line items from income statements and balance sheets. We will be soon including all text content from financial statements as well.
Events: all the trigger events Vainu has connected to the company. These events can include anything ranging from news articles, press releases, meeting minutes, recruitment ads, tenders etc. At the moment, Vainu Research Agent is only using events from the past 12 months to focus only on the most relevant events. You must select the specific event types that you are interested in.

What does it cost to use Vainu Research Agent?
The current version is included in all subscriptions using the new platform (vainu.app). If you are only using the legacy platform (app.vainu.io) and don't have access to the new platform, you can reach out directly to your CSM or use our support chat to get upgraded.
Can I use Vainu Research Agent to research multiple companies or an entire list at once?
Yes, that is possible using the second agent of our Vainu Agent family, namely Vainu Enrichment Agent. Note that unlike Vainu Research Agent, Vainu Enrichment Agent usage is limited by an organization-wide quota.

I can't seem to find Vainu Research Agent?
You are most likely still using the legacy platform (identifiable by the URL app.vainu.io), whereas Vainu Research Agent is only available on the new platform (https://vainu.app/). You can try signing in on the new platform using the same login credentials, then look for the Research Agent tab on any company card.
I remember you spoke about Vainugent earlier, what is that?
Vainu Research Agent used to be called Vainugent, but we renamed the Agent to better describe it's core benefit and to better differentiate it from other Vainu Agents. You might still find mentions on Vainugent here and there, but nowadays we talk about Vainu Research Agent.
