Basic filters

Basic filters are a great starting point when building lists, for example to specifically target or exclude certain legal entities.

Company name

The Company name filter allows you to look for specific names using four different approaches:

  • starts with

  • contains

  • doesn't start with

  • doesn't contain

For example, assuming the searched keyword is Nice:

  • starts with finds all prospects that have any single word in their name starting with Super, so for example NiceCompany and Company Nice would both end up in the results.

  • contains finds all prospects that have the word Super anywhere in their name, so both the previous examples but also for example CompanyNice(Super not being in the beginning of a word) or even SonicExcellence would qualify.

  • doesn't start with and doesn't contain are just the opposites of the previous two, i.e. you'll get a list of every single prospect that do not match with those specific criteria. One very common use case is to exclude holding companies by setting the filter to doesn't contain = Holding.

💡 Here's another cool hack if, for example, you would want to find all prospects that mention AI in their name: starts with = AI *. Note the asterisk and the blank space at the end - they are required to avoid getting false positives such as all words that contain the letters AI (air, mail etc.) by pointing that there should be no letters after the AI part. The starts with logic in turn makes sure there are no letters before it.

While useful in itself, the logic isn't entirely perfect. For example, it skips prospects that have attached the AI part into their name - so something like ProAI would get excluded.

While you could theoretically look for one specific prospect by using the Company name filter, it is usually easier to just use the search bar on top of the page.

Legal entity

The Legal entity filter is very commonly used as very often target groups are built around a specific legal entity. Most commonly these would be limited companies: Osakeyhtiö (OY) in Finland, AB in Sweden, AS (Aksjeselskap) in Norway, Aktieselskab in Denmark, and Limited company or Private limited company in the Netherlands. Alternatively, you could use the is not function of the filter to exclude certain legal entities such as sole proprietorships or municipalities.

The filter lists all legal entities that, according to the official registries, is attached to at least one single active prospect. The exact selection therefore is dependant on the primary data and we do not normalize it in any way. This also explains why the formatting of the entity names (as seen with the limited companies above) varies from one country database to another.

Foundation & Registration

Foundation and Registration are date filters which allow you to specify either a year or a date range:

  • Foundation looks at the day when the prospect was founded

  • Registration looks at the day when the prospect was last registered to the national trade/business register of the country in question.

These two dates are often similar, but companies often get de-registered and re-registered which would update their registration date, but not their foundation date.

As mentioned above, you can approach these filters either by selecting a year or a date range.

  • Year allows you to select any one single year to find all prospects founded or registered during that year.

  • Date offers you more customization, as you can select any one date range spanning as long a time as needed.

For example, if you want to find all prospects founded between 2020 and 2022, the Year filter would not suffice (as you can only select one year), but the Date filter would allow you to select the entire time period from January 1st 2020 until December 31st 2022.

You can switch between the Year filter and the Date filter by using the dropdown menu (circled in red). And while you can go back and forth in time by clicking on the arrow buttons (circled in orange), it is often faster to click on the month or the year (circled in purple, both the month and year are separate elements) to faster navigate from one month to another or one year to another.

Employer registration (Finland only)

The Employer registration filter is only available in the Finnish database and looks at the date when a prospect was last registered to the Finnish Employer Register (Työnantajarekisteri). The filter works largely in the same way as the Foundation and Registration filters with one notable difference.

Instead of searching for prospects based on a year or a date of registration, you can choose to either show all prospects listed in the Employer Register or all prospects that are not listed in the Employer Register.

Teleoperators (Sweden only)

The Teleoperators filter is only available in the Swedish database and looks for prospects using any specific teleoperator. At the time of writing this, there are nearly 300 teleoperators that you can choose from.

You can select multiple teleoperators to find all prospects using any of the selected teleoperators, and you can also flip the filter to the is not mode, allowing you to find prospects who are not using specific teleoperators.

It is highly recommended to use the built-insearch function within the filter itself, due to the large amount of teleoperators available. Note that there aren't actually that many unique teleoperators, but the raw data contains variability in how some teleoperators have been listed. Make sure to select all similar options whenever in doubt.
