Contact Triggers

Do you want to stay up-to-date on contact changes in your target companies? We've got you covered with the help of Contact Triggers!

Updated this week

Contact Triggers is a new feature introduced in Q4/2024 that helps you stay updated on new contacts added to companies on your lists. With Contact Triggers, you can monitor changes and receive notifications in real time - directly to your email or CRM.

Let’s dive into how to use Contact Triggers effectively, the functionality it offers, and how it can elevate your prospecting and sales workflows to the next level.

What are Contact Triggers?

Contact Triggers allow you to track new contacts added to companies on your lists. Notifications can be sent directly to your chosen destination, whether it's email or your CRM. This feature works seamlessly with Vainu's existing company and contact filters, so you can define exactly which types of contacts you want to monitor by drilling down to functions or specific titles.

πŸ‘₯ If you are new to our Contact data, we have a separate article on how to filter the best contacts here. You can use contact filtering to target the exact-audience you care about, for example Decision-makers in HR.

How to activate a Contact Trigger?

Step 1: Create or Select an existing List: Choose a list you would like to monitor. Make sure that both the company filtering and contact filtering match your criteria.

🀝 For users looking to track only the newest hires and recruits, we are introducing a new contact filter called "Recent hire". This filter will restrict the list to only include contacts who have started at a new company within the last 12 months.

Step 2: Enable Contact Triggers: Click on Track changes and then select New contact in list.

Step 3: Define delivery settings: Once you are on the trigger page, select where (CRM or email) and when you want to start receiving notifications.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» Users wanting to receive notifications to their CRM can decide the object that will contain the sent events. The object names depend on the used CRM, but commonly the primary object would be called a Task, an Activity or a Lead.

Note that you can also set up the trigger to send other objects alongside the primary object. In the pictured example the Trigger events are being sent primarily as Tasks to HubSpot, but a Contact and a Company object will also be sent alongside. Companies already matched will not be sent as duplicates, nor will contacts that belong to the same company and have the same full name as a pre-existing contact in your CRM.
